Adding more security to gmail accounts

2-step verification adds more security to your Google accounts by requiring you to enter a verification code in addition to their username and password, when signing in to their account. In addition to your username and password, you'll enter a code that Google will send you via text or voice message upon signing in.
Even if a password is cracked, guessed, or otherwise stolen, an attacker can't sign in without access to the user's verification codes, which only the user can obtain via their own mobile phone.

To setup the 2-step verification:
Step 1: Take account settings from your account home page.

Step 2: Click using 2-stepverification.

Step 3: Click Start setup.

Step 4: Select the country where your phone is registered, and enter your phone number in the box. Choose a mode to receive your codes. You can always change this later. Click Send code to receive a code on your phone. Enter the code from the text or voice message into the box, then click Verify.

Step 5: Click Next.

Step 6: Click Turn on 2-step verification to finish the process.

To turn off the 2-step verification:

Step 1:Take account settings. Click using 2-stepverification.

Step 2: Click Turn off 2-step verification.
